What’s the deal with …….beer and cheese tasting and pairing?!?!?
I’m sure you’ve heard of wine tasting and wine/food pairing. I’ve gone wine tasting more times than I can count! (ok we did live in northern California for several years) and I’ve even been to several wine and food pairing events, but I’d certainly never heard of beer pairing until recently.
It would be impossible not to notice that beer has really made a comeback in recent years. It seems that almost every town now has its own “local craft brewery”! And thanks to my oldest son who lived with us during the pandemic, I’ve grown quite fond of IPAs, which have also become very popular.
Our local library https://www.darienlibrary.org/ has some really great adult programs, and they recently offered a virtual beer and cheese pairing. So my husband and I decided to give it a try. It was run by Em Sauter, a master cicerone (a cicerone is to beer, as sommelier is to wine) https://www.pintsandpanels.com/ We had a lot of fun, learned some things and discovered some new tastes (lookin at you, Trader Joe’s 1000 day Gouda!)
