What’s the deal with….

In the short time since we’ve started Two Chicks’ Picks, we’ve gotten multiple requests to write about skin care for women over fifty. Fortunately, we know several women who specialize in skin care, so it was easy to do our research! We spoke to these three, who gave us great suggestions on what we can do to keep our skin looking younger.

Jenny Crotty

Jenny Crotty, Beauty Counter Consultant beautycounter.com/jennycrotty explained that “our skin definitely gets drier after we age, loses elasticity and becomes rougher”. In addition to her great skincare advice, she recommended

1)Beauty Counter’s Countertime Collection (features a plant-derived Retinatural Complex to firm, brighten and plump the skin):

  • Tetrapeptide Supreme Cream (night cream)
  • Renewal Eye Cream

2) Beautycounter’s All-Bright C Serum (made with two ultra-stable forms of Vitamin C and immediately brightens skin while helping reduce the appearance of dark spots)

3)Beautycounter’s Overnight Resurfacing Peel (Made with glycolic acid and 14 other botanically-derived acids) “This is one of my favorite products and is great for treating fine lines, dark spots and dullness. The combination of resurfacing and soothing acids helps hydrate, replenish and protect skin.  Use 3-4 times per week. Just apply to face and neck at night on clean skin and can be left on overnight.”

Anita Lee

Anita Lee, owner of MeTime Skincare, https://www.metimeskincare.com/ explained how the aging process takes a toll on our skin: fluctuating hormones, drier skin, hyperpigmentation from sun exposure when we were younger, skin cells are weakened and skin is more reactive to products and environment.  And she listed ingredients to look for in skincare products. Anita also says, “Decleor from Paris, Dr. Dennis Gross’s Skincare and Enviage Labs are my favorites…. bonus tip: get your eyebrows done by a professional.  Great shaped brows can give the appearance of a facelift!”

Avery Horne

Avery Horne, consultant for Isagenix, chefaverywuest.isagenix.com says “…..we don’t have that youthful skin in our 50’s, so taking collagen helps with bringing that glow back. Collagen helps with your appearance of wrinkles and those fine lines. After we hit 30 we start producing less and less collagen in our body. I’m finding out that it has so many benefits –  it nourishes your skin from the inside out. And it’s great for hair and nails.” In addition to her excellent skincare tips, Avery strongly recommends Estée Lauder Revitalizing Supreme+ – “I have very sensitive skin and this cream is the only one that my face doesn’t have a reaction to.”

Our three skin experts had several of the same suggestions, but each woman gave some unique advice. So take a look at what they shared!
