Fun

What’s the deal with…… fake eyelashes (or eyelash extensions)?!?!?

This holiday season, Bev and I decided to try something fun and do a little “blog research” at the same time.

So in early December we went to a local studio recommended by a friend (YJ Eyelash). https://yjlashstudio.com/  And what did we learn from our research??? See for yourself from our pics! We both really enjoyed having the new eyelashes, and if not for the expense we would do it more often.

  • What to expect: you will be lying down and unable to open your eyes for approximately 30 – 45 minutes, while the technician attaches just a few lashes at a time. I found it to be relaxing, but I know some people might not have the patience!
  • Cost: As first time clients and using a Groupon, the cost was $40 each (not including tip). To have the eyelashes refilled it’s approximately $70 every 2-3 weeks (although you can get occasional discounts).
  • Cons: No swimming! Similarly, you have to be careful in the shower and while washing your face. Bev gets sweat in her eyes while teaching Spin, but was afraid to wipe them. I had to stop myself from rubbing my eyes, which I realized I do a lot. Obviously the cost and the time involved are also a negative.
  • Pros: Your eyes look great from the minute you wake up! There’s no need to wear eye make-up, even eyeliner, because your eyes stand out so much (This was great for me, because I wear it almost every day). Because you’re not wearing eye makeup, you don’t have to worry about taking it off at night. And compliments – Bev and I both got a lot of compliments on our lashes, and even on the color of our eyes! (something made more noticeable because of the lashes).

So if you want to have a bit of fun and add glamor to your life, while simplifying your daily routine, give eyelashes extensions a try!!!

  1. Wow, photos are worth 1000 words in this case! I think doing this for the holidays is a great treat and worth it. Not something for the summer but like with your nails, something fun to do when you know you have a lot of parties and time with friends … we all deserve to spruce ourselves up a bit now and again. Thanks for sharing.

    1. It definitely was a treat for the holidays! I don’t normally wear makeup during the day, but it was so nice to wake up with nice black lashes. It added a little pop to my face. My eyes didn’t look so tired!

    1. They did, but had to make sure to wipe my forehead periodically to keep the sweat out. We are on week three and I still have some lashes left!

        1. Thanks Brigitte! It was a special treat and I really loved having them especially since I wear a mask all day and all you can see are my eyes anyway! Hope you’re doing well . Miss you! Happy Holidays to you too!

  2. Wow!! So gorgeous ladies and right up my alley, tho I have yet to try them out…thanks for the very informative pros and cons! Xx
