Yes, I’m really going there – “down there” in fact! Ha! I have a close friend who works as a massage therapist at a physical therapy practice, and a few months ago she mentioned that her practice had hired a new Pelvic Physical Therapist. Wait what???? Is that even a real thing??? And of course, within a week after our conversation, it seemed like I kept hearing and reading about Pelvic PT everywhere! So, yes, Pelvic PT is such a real thing that in other countries it’s often a regular part of postpartum care.
So if this helps young women recover postpartum, then why am I sharing this info with 50+ year-old women who follow our blog??? Because this PT could actually be very helpful for a lot of people! For example, here’s a fun fact: approximately 30% of women have some type of urinary incontinence (you know that sneezing, coughing, laughing thing? Yes, that’s incontinence.) And this is something that just gets worse with age. So take a look at my interview with Jessica Klecki, a physical therapist in New Canaan, CT https://performanceoptimalhealth.com/team/jessica-klecki/ and see if Pelvic PT might work for you.
*Also below is a link to Jessica’s recent webinar, as well as a related article from the website Scary Mommy.
Love, love, love the fact that you are bringing real topics of things that might be happening to all of us. While I am thankful to not (yet!) be peeing on myself when I sneeze (your laugh here), who knows … someday we all may need this, right. Appreciate that you went there and are getting us all to think and hopefully talk opening and honestly about real topics. Thanks Annette and Bev! You Chicks rock.
Glad you liked the post. Let us know if you have other topics that would be of interest to our “demographic”. Ha! Clearly we’ll cover anything!
